Matthew Hicks is a Managing Director and the Private Equity Practice Lead at Boston Meridian Partners (BMP). Matt brings over 20 years of executive leadership, merchant / investment banking, venture capital / private equity investment management and corporate development / M&A experience to the Boston Meridian team.
Prior to Boston Meridian, he was the Chief Strategy Officer and CFO of Prevalent, a leader in the Third Party Risk Management space. While at Prevalent, Matt raised over $72M in private equity, closed numerous strategic OEMs, led the acquisition of a “tuck-in” technology company and ultimately sold the business to Insight Venture Partners realizing significant returns for the venture investors and founders.
Prior to joining Prevalent, Matt was a Venture Partner / EIR at Grandbanks Capital where he evaluated venture investments in the cyber security, risk & compliance and AI / big data markets. Prior to Grandbanks, Matt was Head of Corporate Development, M&A and Investments at RSA Security (Dell / EMC). Transactions while at RSA included Netwitness, Silicium Security, SilverTail, ZScaler Investments, etc.
Earlier in his career, he was a co-founder at venture backed technology / SaaS companies and a private equity investment professional in the Technology Group of GE Equity, the strategic growth equity arm of GE Capital. His professional skills include strategic planning, financial management, capital fundraising, M&A, corporate development, private equity investment and intellectual property rights management.
Matt received a BS with a concentration in Corporate Finance from the University of Vermont and an MBA in Entrepreneurial Finance from Babson College.
